Welcome to the Gapyear.com Writers Academy
Travel, experience, share, and get published!
Do you want to get published as a travel writer, photographer or videographer? Then the Gapyear.com Writers Academy (GWA) is for you!
The Gapyear.com Writers Academy has been set up by gapyear.com, the original gap year social network and travel advice website, to help first-time travel writers break into the travel industry by developing their writing skills and publishing their work on gapyear.com.
Pitch content, get commissioned
- Gapyear.com invites members of the GWA to pitch for commissions to provide content - usually articles, pictures or videos - for the site.
- If we accept your pitch, our team will give you a clear brief of what's needed and will set a deadline.
- After you deliver your first draft we'll give you clear feedback and tell you what (if anything) needs to be changed to make it publishable.
- It will then be published on gapyear.com with your byline and author biography.
As a member of the GWA you can also send us your content ideas; if we like them you'll find a commission coming your way.
Boost your portfolio
We want our members to use to use the academy as a tool to improve their writing style and to boost their travel writing portfolio. Only the best pitches will be accepted but that doesn't mean the journey's over for you; you can still blog on gapyear.com.
To join the GWA, you first have to be a member of gapyear.com. It costs nothing and involves no other commitments than agreeing to stick to the rules of the site. Once you're a gapyear.com member, you can join the GWA here.
The GWA is not only a way for you to get your work published, it's also an online academy to help you improve as a writer. So, if you want to become the next Bill Bryson or Michael Palin, then this is the only place you need to be...
